NIKKI FRONEMAN

Nikki is a respected arts producer & artist manager with some 18 years of experience working in the performing arts and music, on festivals, tours, cultural projects and live events.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Cape Town and a Diploma in Marketing & Business Management from Damelin College. 

From 2006 to 2011, she lived in Latin America, mainly in Buenos Aires, where she started and ran Proyecto 34ºS, a platform to promote artistic exchange between Africa and Latin America, working with over 150 collaborators and artists across multiple projects, mainly theatre-based.  She also ran a highly praised home restaurant, Afro-Kitschen, specialising in African food. 

She returned to South Africa in 2012 and freelanced for 5 years, working in theatre & music as a production/tour/artist manager as well as in film as a production coordinator/manager & cast coordinator/casting director, including for the award-winning The Whale Caller, adapted from the novel by Zakes Mda.

Nikki has worked in countries including South Africa, China, Argentina, Brazil, Mozambique, Zimbabwe & France, with partners and clients such as the National Arts Festival (SA), Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Instituto Nacional de Teatro (Argentina), the embassies of Argentina and Uruguay in SA, the SA Embassy in Argentina, SAMRO/Concerts SA, ASSITEJ SA & Pro Helvetia. 

 

Nikki is known for her professionalism, vision and commitment to the arts.  She is fluent in English, Afrikaans and Spanish, and comfortable working with people from across the globe.  She has a great sense of humour and believes living life with passion and fun!  She has a particular interest in promoting access and involvement in the arts to those from all backgrounds and of all abilities.  She is committed to the development of the local performing arts & music industries and having South African theatre, dance & music seen, heard and enjoyed around the world.
